How to avail services and get certificates issued and by whom in Himachal ?

People of Himachal Pradesh especially the ones who are earning their living outside the hill state always find it difficult to find the information related to services like  passport, renewal of driving license or getting a marriage certificate issued from competent authority.

Himachal has gone quite hi-tech in last 10 years and Himachal Pradesh Govt. has started couple of e-services  like e-salary slips, e-pension -where pensioners can see the details of pension transferred to their bank account, online results, tenders and job information. Despite all the information and forms available online, just because of ignorance people run from pillar to post and waste their valuable time to get the certificates issued. We're listing here information on few such services and links to other forms and details so that next time you visit a Govt. office in Himachal Pradesh, you carry requisite forms, certificates and approach right authority.

Obtaining a marriage certificate

Indian citizens above the age of 18 years (for brides) and 21 years (for grooms).

Procedure
  • The marriage ceremony should actually have taken place.
  • Both the bride and the groom need to submit a joint application on the prescribed proforma to the Marriage Officer/SDM.
  • Two witnesses should accompany the bride and groom to the Marriage Office.
  • Proof of the dates of birth of both the bride & the groom should be enclosed along with the joint application.
  • Residence proof document of the bride should be enclosed along with the joint application.

Fees
  • No fees if the marriage certificate is obtained within one month of actual marriage.
  • Rs.10/- if the marriage certificate is obtained after one month and before three months of actual marriage.
  • Rs.50/- if the marriage certificate is obtained after three months of actual marriage. However, in this case, the marriage certificate is issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
Renewing a driving license

If your license has expired and you can't visit licensing authority in Himachal Pradesh, you can get the license renewed from the state or UT of your current residence with medical, residence proof and photographs. Licensing authority will send details of license submitted for renewal to licensing authority in Himachal Pradesh by which license was granted for getting a NOC. As soon as they receive NOC your license will get renewed without any driving test. If licensing authority in Himachal don't send NOC in a month it will be deemed that all the facts are correct and your license will get renewed.

Passport

If you are living in a place outside Himachal Pradesh for more than 3 years, you should apply to regional passport office of your current residence.
